P-3 Artists & Entertainers for Culturally Unique Performances

The P-3 category covers artists and entertainers, including groups, who will perform, teach, or coach in a commercial or noncommercial program that is “culturally unique.”  

“Culturally Unique”

“Culturally unique” means a style of artistic expression, methodology, or medium which is unique to a particular country, nation, society, class, ethnicity, religion, tribe, or other group of persons.  The artist or entertainer must be coming to the U.S. to participate in a cultural event or events which will further the understanding or development of his or her art form. 

Evidence of “Cultural Uniqueness”?

Cultural uniqueness may be demonstrated as follows:

  1. Through affidavits, testimonials, letters from recognized experts; OR
  2. Through reviews in newspapers, journals, or other published materials, such as PR materials, prizes, ads, letters from interested foreign governments.  AND
  3. It must be shown that the performances or presentations will be culturally unique events.
